Elfenworks Website Project: www.violinjazz.com

In order to keep the website fresh and appealing, we completely redesigned client Jeremy Cohen's site a number of times between early 2002 when we took over responsibility as webmaster and Summer 2006, when we returned responsibility for its maintenance to the client. During that time, we implemented and maintained a number of features on the site designed to make it more attractive to return visitors, including an 'Ask Jeremy' section aimed at students and teachers of the violin, and a ViolinJazz history section. The most recent major site overhaul was undertaken to echo the artwork on Cohen's new Venuti tribute DVD, produced by elfenworks and released in 2005 from Video Artists International. In addition to ongoing website support, we have provided liaison assistance, acted as executive producer, and provided other print, music, and film project support services as needed.

"not only a composer but a violinist whose playing is cozy, elegant, and pleasure-filled...."
-S.J. Mercury News, October 2004

"A fine violinist who exudes genuine, bold grandeur, accentuated by an astonishing expose of his heart through his fingers. " -Strings (more reviews)

Jeremy Cohen’s performances of jazz and classical violin have earned him nationwide accolades and his eclectic style reflects his admiration for violinists ranging from Fritz Kreisler to Joe Venuti. A classically-trained violinist, Cohen’s teachers included Itzhak Perlman, Anne Crowden, and Daniel Kobialka.

In addition to his own recordings with his ViolinJazz Quartet and Quartet San Francisco, and his work on motion picture and TV soundtracks, Cohen has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists. On stage he was the solo violinist in Broadway productions including Forever Tango and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He has performed as soloist with numerous symphony orchestras around the country, and has toured with the Turtle Island String Quartet, the Hot Club of San Francisco, the New York Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony.

Cohen's ViolinJazz concerts with symphony orchestras include complete orchestrations and feature Jeremy Cohen's virtuosic playing, which mixes the traditions of jazz and classical music with blues, pop, country and swing-era music. His ChamberJazz concerts blend his traditional ViolinJazz Quartet (violin, piano, guitar, bass) with his string ensemble Quartet San Francisco, creating a very exciting ChamberJazz event.

Jeremy Cohen is currently Resident Artist and String Coordinator at the Henry Mancini Institute at UCLA and Guest Artist in Residence at Mills College. He is also on the faculty of the Jazz School in Berkeley, California, and is a former faculty member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop.
