The Evolution of Websites Over Time

Complete, cohesive websites with logical architectures take time and effort to build. Once built, content must be kept fresh and interesting or much of the initial value is lost and the website grows stale. Below, snapshots of client sites over the years...

The first image shows virtuoso jazz violinist Jeremy Cohen's pre-existing, pre-elfenworks website. The subsequent images show the various looks the site has have over the years. The last image (bottom right) shows the latest redesign, which incorporates smoke in the top header area, echoing the artwork we produced for Cohen's new DVD (read about it):

Aaron Rosand (view webpage)

We are proud to be Maestro Rosand's first and only webmaster, providing comprehensive support for his web, print, film and recording needs. From its inception, the site has had CD detail pages, mediaclips, a mailing list, a feedback form, and translations of Rosand's biography into many foreign languages. Later, we added advanced navigation features with extensive drop-down menus and began to allow visitors to purchase CDs directly from the site safely using PayPal. Over the years we have modified the front-page to keep it looking fresh, most-recently adding images which echo the artwork on Rosand's new Recital DVD (read about it).

Vox Music Group (view web page)

When we assumed responsibility for the website of the classical record label Vox Music Group in May 1999, the site lacked a navigation structure and had misspellings throughout. We added features including site-wide search; opt-in mailing list; searchable catalog with soundclips, cover art, and links to online vendors; new-releases page; articles on soloists and composers; and web-based contests. We also regularly updated the look-and-feel and the content to keep the website fresh (read about this site's evolution).

We hope the above examples give you a better sense of the natural evolution of websites over time. Whether or not you work with a web designer, we encourage you to keep your content fresh and the look of your website current.
