Elfenworks Team Member: Producer / Director /Webdesigner Lauren Speeth
A computer programmer since 1983, Speeth holds a bachelor's degree from Mills College, a master's (MBA) from Saint Mary's College, a doctorate (DBA) from Golden Gate University, and an Advanced Computer Security Professional Credential from Stanford University, as well as lifetime Community College Teaching Credentials in Finance, Management, and Computers. She is a regular guest lecturer in the Graduate School of Business at Mills College and has taught quantitative methods and computer science at University of Phoenix where she was chosen to participate in the film 'Effective Facilitative Techniques for Teaching Quantitative Skills.' As part of a pilot project there, in the early days of the web, she was one of the first faculty members to develop a class website – for an undergraduate statistics course. Prior to teaching, Speeth worked in progressively responsible positions - from Systems Analyst to Consulting Systems Engineer - at Bank of America, beginning as a macro-11 assembly language programmer in 1984. Speeth's client's websites have won numerous awards and have been discussed in articles in such notable periodicals as The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, and Gramophone. As a Director / Producer, Speeth captures the performances of classical and jazz musicians of the highest caliber both on CD [2007 Rejuve, 2006 Grammy® nominated Látigo, Aaron Rosand In Norway, Blue Divine, ...] and on camera [Violins & Cigars, Aaron Rosand in Recital, Reflections...]. Her films, screened in festivals throughout the United States and abroad -- as well as on the Classic Arts Channel and KBHK TV's Bay Area Focus -- have garnered Best International Mid-Length Documentary and Best Music Video & Best Jazz Video; as well as Davey, Summit, JPF, and Telly Awards. Speeth is an active musician, playing in the First Violin section of the Peninsula Symphony since 2000, as well as in in solo performances. Her recording credits include: Rejuve (violin, 2007); Tammy Hall: Reflections (violin II, 2006); The elfenworks holiday album (vocals, A Felicidade, 2005); the elfenworks motion picture bumper soundtrack (violin II, 2004); A Joy Restored (violin, 2002); and John Watkins & Hiroshi Iguchi's Chinese Tea (flute, 1983). | ||
