Elfenworks Film Official Selection of Mendocino Film Festival
Jazz Pianist Tammy Hall Performs at Gala Opening Event "Against a montage of urban landscapes from New York to San Francisco, or lightning flashes in the sky and pools of tropical fish swimming in sync or in patterns, Tammy Hall plays her jazz piano pieces live in Oakland. With images of hanging fuchsia or palm trees blowing in the Maui breezes, this remarkable pianist interprets the sounds as the visuals keep changing."
We all enjoyed our time at the Mendocino Film Festival, where Tammy Hall: Reflections was selected for festival programming and jazz pianist Tammy Hall performed at the gala opening event. This was an historic occasion - it was the inaugural festival - and it ran from May 18-21 2006 in Mendocino, California. Because each chapter of our film Tammy Hall: Reflections can stand on its own, the chapters were treated as shorts, and programmed along with other films, enriching the festivalgoers' experience. We were excited to be paired with the following feature films: Callback, Mr. Dungbeetle, Self Medicated, and The Garage. Judging from the number of movies which included mental anguish as part of their story line (the first three), we can't help but wonder whether perhaps the festival programmers thought thought a little beautiful piano jazz would be an appropriate beginning, soothing the audience before their filmgoing experience.
